How the pregnancy calculator works
This tool adds a standard gestation length to the mating date you enter. Dogs average 63 days of pregnancy but can whelp anywhere from 58 to 68 days after mating, since ovulation timing varies between individual dogs and matings. Cats have a narrower window, averaging 63 to 65 days.
The earliest and latest dates shown give you a realistic window to prepare a whelping or queening area, arrange time off, and know when to start watching for labor signs. Because the exact date of ovulation is rarely known without hormone testing, treat the average due date as a best estimate rather than an exact deadline.
