Pawpoy

Our story

Built by pet owners who got tired of guessing

Pawpoy started with a simple frustration: standing in a pet food aisle, holding two bags, and having no reliable way to know which one was actually better for a specific dog.

The reviews were contradictory. The marketing was meaningless ("premium," "holistic," "natural" — none of these have legal definitions). And turning the bag over revealed a 40-ingredient list that required a veterinary nutrition degree to evaluate.

Most pet food apps that existed either gave generic star ratings that didn't account for the individual animal's conditions, or required paying for premium tiers to see basic ingredient information. Neither solved the actual problem.

What we built

Pawpoy cross-references any pet food ingredient list against a curated, regularly updated safety database — and evaluates it against your specific pet's profile. Not an average dog. Your dog: their breed, age, weight, health conditions, medications, and known sensitivities.

The verdict is a clear pass/caution/avoid with a reason. Then you can ask follow-up questions using the AI chat, which has the full ingredient list and your pet's profile as context.

We also built the health records side because it turns out most pet owners were managing medications, vaccinations, and vet visits across emails, screenshots, and paper notes. A shareable vet report link seemed like a natural extension — and it's been one of the most used features since launch.

What drives us

Pet food is a $150 billion global industry. The information asymmetry between manufacturers and pet owners is enormous — companies spend billions on marketing while most pet owners have no reliable tool to evaluate what's inside the bag.

We think that should change. Pet owners deserve plain-language, personalized information about what they're feeding their animals. Vets deserve clients who arrive informed rather than anxious. And pets deserve to be fed food that's actually appropriate for them.

Our commitment

Pawpoy is built on a few non-negotiables:

  • We don't rate brands — we analyze ingredients. We have no brand partnerships and don't take money from pet food manufacturers. Our verdicts are based on the ingredient list, nothing else.
  • We're honest about uncertainty. When science is contested (grain-free and DCM, for example), we say so. We don't overstate confidence.
  • We're not replacing your vet. Pawpoy is a tool to help you have better conversations with your vet — not to replace those conversations.
  • Your data is yours. We don't sell pet health data. We don't share scan history with food manufacturers. You can delete everything at any time.
